2023年も間もなく終わろうかという12月になりましたので、恒例となりました“カンファレンスランク”を調査し振り返ってみたいと思います。初めて本記事をご覧になる方は、2021年版・2022年版に詳細を記していますので、よろしければ併せてご確認ください。

本記事では、コンパクトに昨年との差分をみてまいります。
最先端技術の研究発表の場である学会はどうなっているのか？を端的にキャッチできることで皆さまの研究戦略を立てるお役に立てれば嬉しい限りです。

■分野横断 – カンファレンスランクTop100（2021-2023）

まず、これまでの記事と同様、Google Scholarでh5-indexの上位100件を分野関係なく示しました（表１）。その中でのAI関連分野のランクには青地でハイライトしております。

AI関連分野は、これまでと同様に、従来から続くAIコア技術［AI］、および近年のAIの代表的ツールとなっている統計的機械学習［ML］、応用分野である自然言語処理［NLP］や画像認識・合成に関わるモデリングなど［CV］、信号処理や音声認識・合成［Signal/Speech］、ロボティクス［RO］と定義し、関連するトップティアと言われる各分野での最高峰の会議を洗い出しております。

＊必ずしもAIとは言えないのですが、今回も基本的な計算機科学（CS）も含めています。

初見者のために、表の見方のおさらいしておきます。（詳細は2021年版参照）

h5-indexというのは、過去5年間に発表された論文のh指数です。
h指数は、業界における貢献度を示す指標で、「h件以上引用されている論文がh件以上あることを満たす最大値」と定義されます。h5-medianは、h5を構成する論文の引用数の中央値を意味しています。上記の例で言えば、500件の論文の各引用件数を並べたときに順位的に真ん中に位置する引用件数のことを指しています。そのため、h5-medianは、必ずh5-indexより大きくなります。
昨年の記事の繰り返しですが、引用件数を多くするためには絶対的な発表件数が多いことも重要です。そのためには、毎年開催されていること、そして沢山の論文数があることが必要です。もちろん引用されるためには論文の質も重要です。したがって、h5-indexが高い論文誌や会議は質の高い論文を沢山採録・保有しているということになります。 ＊カンファレンスランク 2021年版より

前振りが長くなりましたが、早速、表1の結果を見てみましょう。

今年もtop3は変わりなく、1位Nature　2位The New England Journal of Medicine　3位Scienceという結果でした。
そしてAI関連分野トップも、昨年同様CVPR（参照：「CVPR2023-速報-」ResearchPortトップカンファレンス定点観測 vol.9）です。順位自体は変わりませんでしたが、昨年以上に3位 Science誌との差が縮まり、来年には順位が入れ替わるのでは……という数値になっております。
AI関連分野で特に注目すべきは、ECCVが40位→21位と大幅に順位を上げております。近年のCV分野の盛況感の表れではないでしょうか。
その他でも、ICML 19位→17位、IEEE Access 32位→24位、AAAI 44位→33位、ACL 53位→45位 などと軒並み上昇傾向であることが読み取れます。
唯一、ICCVのみ17位(h5-index 239)→26位(228)と順位を落としておりました。

各カンファレンス定点観測記事でも述べておりますが、全体的にAI分野が学会・学術誌全体の中で今年も成長を続けている様子が分析できました。

次に、AI関連分野のみを上位から50件抽出した結果が下記になります（表２）。今年度のh5-indexで並び替えています。
2021年度は上位16位までしか見ていなかったため空白の箇所が一部ございます。昨年からは50位まで増やして並べてみております。

■まとめ

かなり完結にまとめてしまいましたが、全体的に見ると大きな順位変動は少ないようでした。
一方で、表1に示した100件でのh5-indexにおける平均値の推移は184.0 (2021年) → 196.5 (2022年) → 210.0 (2023年) と増加しております。これは論文の引用数がコミュニティで増えていること、もしくは論文数そのものが増加しているということが言えるのではないでしょうか。
AI関連分野 2位にあるNeurIPSでは、2022年開催時点で10,000本を超える投稿がありました。NeurIPS2023はまさに本記事を執筆している今開催されています(2023/12/12現在)。おそらく昨年よりも多くの論文投稿が予想されます。
こうなってくると、独力で多くの論文を読み漁りトレンドをキャッチし研究テーマを設定するということが、今まで以上に難しい状況になってまいります。
そのため生成AIを活用した効率的な論文読破や、チーム研究で世界と戦える成果をあげていくということが求められるのかもしれません。
